My first forum, forgive any faux pas I may commit. My 2002 A4 1.8 which is just out of warranty a few thousand miles has a failed steering rack, and bad tensioner which a non dealer mechanic has told me could be the prelude to a sludge problem. I am taking up the issue with Audi, but it is a war of attrition, does anyone have suggestions on the chain of command at Audi to expedite this process? I bought this car new, never wrecked and did double the oil changes recommended. Help! Audi Girl

Re the potential sludging problem wit hthe 1.8T, I was doing an interim oil change and went to the dealer to buy the oil filter. The guy at the counter informed me that the filter had been modified and sold me the updated one. My god its twice the size of the old one. Maybe this update is a response to stop possible sludging
