Oil Change (frequency?)

Hi - -

Just bought a 2005 A4 1.8T Quattro - - love it!

Audi covers 5K, 15K, 25K, 35K, and 45K, and my local (Audi) service tells me they'll provide full synthetic oil changes. Anyone out there changing (synthetic) oil more frequently?

with today's oil technology 5k intervals is perfectly fine. just check your oil regularly. my dealer has the same policy on my allroad.. it goes in for service every 5000 miles

I change the oil (10W/40 semi synthetic) & filter & a full service check every 4000mls on my 204000ml 1995 A4 2.6 Quattro

Thanks for your message. Please allow me to clarify / make sure I understand. So - - you suggest / follow a 5,000 mile service interval? (My dealer / Audi, under new car coverage, will only do this every 10,000 miles, starting at 5,000 - - so, 5K, 15K, 25K, 35K, 45K).

If I read your note correctly, sounds like I should spring for the "in-between" changes (10K, 20K, 30K, 40K), so that the synthetic oil / filter are changed *every* 5K miles. . .

Does that sound right?

yeah... i see what you mean. my AR is a lease ... they'll change the oil whenever i want.

don't want 10k between changes thats a bit long. every 5000 is perfect.

I drive an A4. Audi suggest oil change at every 15k KM. My dealer instead to change the oil at 10k KM. He said it is good for the car.????

well... 15000km =~9400miles. 10000km=~6500 miles....

why dont you do something inbetween.. try like 12000km
