2003 A4 Electircal Problems

I have had my A4 for about a week and I half. I love the car. It is the 1.8t with 28500 miles (I have put on 1600 since buying it, so it has 30100 miles now). This morning, I got in the car and the bomb indicator lite came on and stated that the front right headlight was dipped (??). And, when I tried to plug my cell phone into the cig lighter, that was not working either. Halfway to work (about 30 miles), the light came on, but the cig lighter is still out. The accessory plug in the trunk still works, so I was at least able to charge my phone in the trunk....

Today was the coldest day of the year so far (16 F when I woke up). I sure hope that the car will not react this way on other cold days...... Because it will be a while before it gets warmer.

Has anyone else encountered weird electrical problems with an Audi? Normally, I would just think it was a blown headlight, but my girlfriend has a 2002 TT, and she has had a TON of electirical problems including lights going out and coming back on, windows working sometimes and now has the indicator light blinking for some sort of tempature problem. Her dad, sister and about three friends of ours have Audis of various flavors (A8, A4, S4, etc...) with no problems, but her and I are not so lucky.

Any advice before I call the service center?

not sure if the B6 A4 (new body style) has separate fuses for the trunk plug and the dash plug, but i'd check the fuse panel to the left of the steering wheel.

if its not the fuse, you may have a lose wire at the cig. plug and the headlight warning indicator may be unrelated. have you check that all your headlights (high/low/fog) are working? that would cause a trip of the sensor.

Well, the two are unrelated. It was a fuse for the lighter which was easy. The headlight though, not sure. If I hit it, it works. I messed with the plug last nite as I think it may be a connection.
