I can't help you on the technical side of this question, but offer a lesson-learned in buying after-market catalytic converters...not a place to go cheap, unless you are willing to take the risk. I bought an oem-replacement rather than the manufacturer's replacement. I saved about 10%.
But what I also got was a Check Engine Light that would not go out. The output of the replacement converter did not meet the manufacturer's threshold measurement, and tripped the Check Engine Light full-time. The actual emissions output is fine, from the federal emissions perspective, but not good enough for the sensor. It never goes out. So if I have a REAL problem, I will never know, as it is covered up by this false positive. The oem said, 'it works,' so i have no recourse to fix it other than to purchase a new one. Spend the money to get the real thing, or better, or make sure the oem will stand behind it. Good luck.
