Exclamation What did I do?! Clutch or clutch cable busted?

2000 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8t
145k miles
timing belt and clutch changed at 80k

I put the car into 1st at a green light and the pop the car went into neutral and would not move, although the engine stayed on.

It had been making a scraping noise for about 3 days on the rear passenger side wheel, which I thought had something to do with the brakes binding but then I thought the CV boot might be bad since going around corners the scraping sounded worse.

Anyway, so now when I release the clutch the engine makes a whining sound.

Something similar happened 2 years ago. I originally thought it was the clutch or tranny but it ended up being a bad CV boot that the axle snapped at that joint and so I just swapped out the whole axle and everything else was fine.

Does anyone have any ideas whats going on here? Perhaps its a combination of problems, need brake job and clutch cable.. right?

When I press the clutch now it still gives normall spring back.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks.
It was the front right driveshaft (axle).
The grinding noise in the back is unrelated (wheel bearing).
