Coolant leak

Hello,
I have a coolant leak - fill up the reservoir and it will start dripping from the bottom of the lower oil pan (by the oil drain plug). Reservoir is drained within minutes. Looking at it it seems the coolant is coming from somewhere above the flange of the oil cooler. I was thinking to replace the oil cooler, but now I am thinking that a bad oil cooler would leak coolant into the oil and not to the outside.
Any idea where this leak could be and whether it is worthwhile to replace the oil cooler?

Any updates to this? I have a coolant leak in the same area. Pump under the intake manifold was changed a couple of years ago but that leaked down the back of the engine.

If its the rear of the motor, it's the aux. coolant pump they usually fail prematurely.

The recirc pump has already been done. This leak is somewhere between the reservoir and the oil cooler. Hoses are all dry as far as I can feel or see down from the reservoir. Oil cooler lines are also dry. I can see G12 above the oil cooler but can't see where it is coming from. Looks like I will have to take it some where to have it looked at.

Try checking the coolant flange on the back of the engine.

I have an 02 tt that has the exact same problem. have you found out what is wrong with it? research revealed the water pump is on the drivers side, the oil cooler is actually located near the oil filter. i have no idea what causes the coolant to leak from there. let me know. thanks.

My problem turned out to be the water pump itself. It did not have anything to do with the oil cooler. Changed the water pump and things were fine.
