Completely new to the Audi world- lots of questions!

I'm actually a MINI guy, but my brother is looking into a 1996 Audi A4 with the, I believe, 2.8L V6 Quattro with roughly 110,000 miles. The dealer wants around $4800.00 for it.

Being completely new to the Audi world, I don't know much about these cars and wanted to do some research.

Are parts expensive?
Are there any common problems that run in the early A4's?
Are there any things you should look for/avoid with the A4?
Any other pointers and tips you can recommend would be highly valued!

good buy for the mileage.

i had the same car. it is a good car but sadly there are no mods at all for this car. also its only a 12v. if he is looking into tuning, look for a later model 30v 2.8 or a 1.8t.

Any major problems you encountered?? I talked to a technician at the dealership I work at, and they said they had done many front suspension jobs on A4's and Passat's.

How's gas mileage?

I also was told that weird things go out on these cars- window regulators, A/C, etc. Any experience with that?

Unfortunately, I think only I inherited the tuning gene in our family, so it's not an issue for him. And probably best that way- that way I can't put mods on it for him. lol
