Default newb with an A4

Hi guys im new to the audi forums, and new to audis ive just got myself a 1995 A4 2.6 quattro, its in need of a little tlc as it looks like it hasnt been polished for quite some time so thats my job for tomorow.

so far the only problem ive found, although a small one is some of the dash lights dont work, and also the temp side of the climate control, were would the best place be to get these other than audi, as i imagine they'll want a kidney or three.

cheers Dave.

Hi have you tried local breakers or perhaps even ebay? I know you can find parts from online dealers/breakers. Can't suggest anywhere specific sorry.

The dash bulbs are available in most auto stores, I had three not workign when I got my A4, was able to locate a set at Halfords

The dials are a lot easier to remove than they look. You have 2 philips screws right above thew steering wheel, it is covered bya flexible plastic panel that lifts up, then you can remove the fuse box cover (if you are RHD) and put your hand in behind the dials and push out. Just a matter of disconecting the plugs and drawing it out.

This should help

Quote:

Step 1: Take out the instrument cluster.

Step 2: Disconnect the plugs.

Step 3: Remove the remaining plugs.

Step 4: Remove the cover. Take out the screws and snap open the cover.
Step 5: Replace the old factory face. You may want to put masking tape at the back of the face between coolant temperature gauge and fuel gauge to prevent shines through from the high beam light bulb.

well i popped into halfords today to get my bulbs, i couldnt find what i wanted so asked the parst monkey who toldme they dont sell them on the way out my mate asked one of the other lads who went straight to them

i though audi were dear at £1.198 each, but halfords are £2.20 odd lukly i had my mates trade card and got all 6 they had in stock for £2.45 .

taking the dash cluster out is a right pita though and it took me good hour to sort the out, i also replaced on bulb in my climate control leaving one blown bulb .

I've got a 1995 A4 1.8 which had a similar issue with the climate control not blowing any thing warm out and only blowing downwards.

I rang a few places up to no avail but eventually found one from a 1995 A4 2.6 that had been written off. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention this but it worked for me, I recommend Cheap car parts, Engines & 4x4 Parts. Find used car parts & car spares from online car breakers.
