Talking Finally found an A4! woo hoo!

Hi all, after having my 1996 Avant written off (by some boy racer going into the side of it) I've bought an 2000 W reg A4 1.9Tdi 115 SE.

I've put a deposit on it and will pick it up during the week or next weekend. He's got to give it a full valet, two new tyres and have it checked. He's a indepdant dealer and only recieved it last night in part-ex.

Thing is the airbag light was going off and I'm not sure why it is. I did bring it up with him and he said he'd get it fixed. There was an airbag keylock thing in the glove box which was set to off, he said it was that at first but I asked him to turn on and it still stayed lit up.

Hopefully it'll be ok. Paying 2.7k for it, 116K miles. Just within my budget.

looks good, the air bag light may just be the seat plug connection that just need to be checked then you need to plug in to the ECU and reset the error codes.

Just wondering if anyone knows of anywhere online I can get an owners manual? I've googled it and come up with a few but you have to pay for them.

Also had question regarding modding body kits and engine. Do you guys pay through the nose in insurance premiums or do you simply not declare any mods? Just wondering that's all. Thanks.

A mate of mine had his car re-mapped, didn't let the insurance know, but if he had a prang and they found out it was chipped or whatever surely they'd not honour the claim?

Also what tyres do you guys run? I've been told Michelin Pilots are generally best all rounders, kiwkfit quite often do deal on these (buy 4 for price of 3 offer).

thanks BigD. A few stains on the seats, but he said it needs a valet before i receive it anyway. I wouldn't have been by first choice in colour, prefered metalic black or midnight blue, but with my budget and want of a 98 onwards model i can't afford to be too picky. Needs a foglamp too, the glass is smashed on one of them.

No, that dark purple/blue is what my previous car was. I saw another avant a couple of weeks ago it was in this really dark deep metallic blue, it doesn't seem to be that common audi colour.

You can pick up fogs on ebay, quite a few of them going at the moment. I was looking last night. Not sure how easy it is to fit them though.

Are you going to post up pics of yours?
