sticky buttons on ac unit

Hi everyone, now that the summer is on, and we use more of the buttons on our ac/ climate control unit, I have found out that the buttons have become stiff and sticky. They are hard to push/press, don't come back - or if they do that will be after a long delay, and the worst is that if you press them too hard the whole unit stops working. Any suggestions? Any help. And many thanks to those who helped me last time.

I had the same problem it was soda that had spilled on the unit I had to take the face off and clean all the buttons and the face plate now it works like new I bet thats what is wrong with your unit.
