Will it be possible to program an aftermarket switchblade key on a 98 a4 if I've swapped the headunit for a pioneer? I bought the car used and it didn't come with a remote, but I was told the a4's came with keyless entry stock.

As long as the alarm and central locking works ok from the key, and the aftermarket stereo connector has not put 12v down your 'K' line.
You most likely have an RF locking pump on a 98. You will need to access the cars central locking module with vagcom (or similar), and change the base-code number to one that enables 'keyless entry'. Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Audi B5 VAG-COM Info You can have a good guess at the stereo that should be in the car (Concert/Symphony). You can then sync the remote, and either get your 'static' key transponder cloned, or if you have your 4 digit SKC (immo pin) you can add a new key transponder with vagcom, or canibalise a working spare key for the transponder capsule. Otherwise go to an autolocksmith. |
