I'm new to this as well, recently purchased a '99 A4 1.8tq. I've changed brakes on my other cars before, so I don't expect this to be any different. As for the pads, I usually go with stock ones unless my car is tuned, but if you don't want stock then someone on here might know more than me since I'm new to the AUDI world. Also, you can always go down to your local Auto Parts store (Kragen, NAPA, etc) and ask for the choices available.
