Default Turbo Swap

My "01" has the KO3s so the KO4 isn't really much of an upgrade. Which other turbos match our flanges on the 1.8T so I don't have to switch manifolds?

That's it for our manifolds but you can upgrade the K04 Turbo to 225TT spec which I'm having done as we speek I'm hopping it will produce (with additional Parts) around the 280bhp mark once done.

I will post up how it all goes but this will be the spec once done.

Quote:
Your turbo swallowed something, similar to Mark's situation. I will send pictures of the damage soon.

At this point you will need a new K04 shaft unfortunately we have a slight waiting period since recently selling out.
There are 8 new K04-023 shafts arriving in 2 weeks and we will hold 1 shaft for this project at your request.

The upgrade I have in mind has our largest wheel options for the K04-015 and includes the SP51X compressor.
The "X" wheel will be tied to a K04-023 turbine shaft, this shaft is found specifically on Audi Motorsport cars.
This upgrade requires re-profiling of the turbine housing to accept the larger K04-023 turbine shaft.

The K04-023 has approximately 3mm larger inducer compared to the K04-015 sharing the same exducer.
In addition this upgrade includes the over-sized SP51X compressor wheel, updated Bearing Housing with "twin-feed"
oil c****s and every CHRA that leaves this workshop is tested to the extreme.
The Turbo I bought was a dead unit as most of the internal will be replaced and had it not had a dead shaft it would have been a little cheaper but for me it will add up to be no more than a new K04-15 Turbo.

you can also consider getting a ko4/rs6 hybrid.

Thanks for the info. I'm not ready, money wise, to do the full system swap and want to keep my stock mani for now.I'll check out both the build and the hybrid. 280-300hp is my target range.

yo for now you should do the turbo swap with the remap, then later get a new injectors. Also when you are running higher boost, make sure that you put a lower gap on your plugs because of the higher compression. also to add, intakes and exausts make a big difference in turboed cars.

The doc is right, i too am waiting for mne to be fixed by the same person Doc sent his to, in fact i think it's me that gets the mention on his damage quotation, lol

The k04-15 is what i am currently running and it is good, but not a huge step even from a k03 IMHO

Where are you guys getting the work done? Here in the States or the UK? Its already chipped with Carbonio intake and 2.5 piping and a Silverline exhaust. Blisten shocks/springs and stage one clutch. I have the injectors and high flow pump I'm just trying to track down the prev owner so I can look up how the chipped ecu is mapped. I hope to use it. I'm at 220, just want 60 more. the pic I have was when I first bought it I need to change my pics.

The guy is based in the USA but the Turbo have to be sent to Poland to have all the work done.

You can contact them via email and the kit is a SP51 which he has different levels of mods for. I and Mawhitey went for the X version which is the top of the range which involves boring out the turbo to TT K04 spec or greater (these turbo’s map to 280bhp on the TT) so I hoping with tuning to get my car up to those figures.
