Low Engine & Oil Temp 96 A4 2.6

Suspect my thermostat needs replacing.
I have bought a new one but I have no idea where it fits!
Can anyone help?

I'm unsure as I've got to replace mine as well but mine's a 1.8.

I found the below pic on a russian website and i couldn't figure it out.

On a 1.8 follow the bottom hose till it meets the engine, and the thermostat is mounted within the plastic housing thats secured to the engine with 2 x 10mm headed bolts
