Default b5 2.6

hey guys,

so far i have had a manual 1997 subaru wrx and manual 1994 bmw e36 325i. im looking at buying a 1997 a4 2.6 auto. i am tired of driving manual especially in traffic. i am looking for a good car reliable town car, but with a little bit of power for overtaking.

just wondering if there is anything commonly known problems i should be aware of in the 2.6 auto? apart from the usual car vices?
is the 2.6 a strong reliable motor?

regards

adam

Well I would say the 2.6 is a little guttles to be honest and you should look for a 2.8 30v plus you will see little difference in fuel for the extra power the 2.8 30v (195bhp) will give you.

cant afford the 2.8... hard to find.

or would i be better of buying a 1.8t?

which of the two engines (1.8 vs 2.6) is better suited to the automatic tranny?

Well a chipped 1.8T will be much quicker and cheaper to run I my self like big engines when it come to Autos as the bigger engine give a better power delivery all in all but it you can then save and look out for a 2.8 as you will not be sorry based on what you are after and a Quattro may even full in your price range if you hunt hard.
