Hey people!
I've posted a couple times before and everyone has been helpful. I've been trouble free for a while, but recently, I've been served with a check engine light. Around the same time, I've noticed that every time I fill up, I can smell gas fumes inside my car. Oh sorry, I have a 2001 A4 2.8L Quattro. I plugged in my ross-tech scan tool and got this: VAG-COM Version: Release 704.1 Address 01: Engine Control Module Part Number: 3B0 907 551 BQ Component and/or Version: 2.8L V6/5V G 0001 Software Coding: 07201 Work Shop Code: WSC 63351 1 Fault Found: 16825 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect Flow P0441 - 35-00 - - Makes sense, the EVAP is letting gas fumes into my car. I've done the output test for the purge valve. It clicks, probably every second. Is it supposed to open, then click close, then open again like a cycle or is it supposed to stay open until the ECM decides to close it? Also, what else am I supposed to be checking? Thanks! |

Hey, I have the same problem, but i've had it for some time now. I cycled my purge valve with my vag comm program and it clicks the same way, which means its working. But on other forum websites, they say that a new purge valve is a common fix for that code. You can also run your meas. block while driving around and monitor your purge valve on a graph and watch it open and close as neccessary. I dont have the fumes in my car, but i've come to ignore it for now, doesn't really affect my car. You can find the purge valves for pretty cheap on ebay. http://search.ebay.com/search/search...lve&category0=

I am going to replace the purge valve without clearing the code, and just wait a couple of drive cycles. From what I understand, after 4 drive cycles the check engine light will turn off, and after 40 drive cycles the history of the code will erase? So after a week or so if the light remains on, it must be something else I suppose. I wouldn't care about the purge valve either but my registration is pending state inspection...
Thanks for the reply by the way! |

Thanks Andrewnriley for the only reply. hehehe
I took some carb cleaner and sprayed the purge valve, then loaded both ends with the carb cleaner and plugged but ends, then shook it up and let the thing dry. Now it's working with a less of clicking sound. I mean, it still clicks slightly, but before, it clicked very loudly and slowly, as if the valve was glued or something. Also the check engine light cleared itself after 2 days. Hope this helps someone. |
