Default Rebuilt ABS Module

Has anyone had any experience with a rebuilt ABS Module? I've heard that they function fine and cost Hunrdeds less than a new one.

bosch units are about £400 instead of £1500 for full unit. You will require vag com and also you need to blead the system after installation. If you can read the code of the old unit then record it to enter into the new software. Its is possible to send the control unit for repair and that will only cost £100.

I repaired the unit on my son's 99 Passat 1.8T last spring which should be similiar. Very simple process: you remove four or five bolts that hold the electronics portion of the unit to the portion which the brake lines all run into. Send the unit to BBA Remanufacturing at a cost of $150.

The good news is while the unit is off for repair, you can still drive your car. You just tightly wrap a pastic bag around the remaining portion of the ABS controller and tape it shut. Your ABS won't function, but hey, that's the reason you're sending the unit in for repair anyway.

In the case of the Passat, we had to remove the left wheel and the black plastic wheel well cover to get to the unit. That took 10 minutes. Removing the ABS unit and wrapping it took another 5 minutes. BTW, I believe BBA may have directions on their website for your car. Good luck.
