Default AUDI A4 1.8T Engine Power

I have an early 51 plate Audi A4 1.8T with the AJV engine 143 bhp (110kw)

How easy is it to increase the engine output by about 20 bhp without spending £400 getting it re-chipped.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a good tuning book covering the A4 1.8 Turbo engine.

I would appreciate any & all advice, Many Thanks.

Paul.

hi if you have a quick flick on ebay you will find a postal remap service that will only sting you about £150 the downside is you have to remove the ecu yourself and post it off it takes about 2-3 days and then you have to re-install it yourself. this will see gains of around 45 bhp at a fraction of the cost as you do a lot of the work yourself.

I am planning it myself in a few weeks along with a decat pipe. even a decat pipe for about £90 will see an increase in power accel and top speed due to the restriction being removed however make sure you keep the cat as you will need to re-install it every time your car goes for an mot otherwise it WILL fail on emmisions

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply kb277.
£150 sounds better than £400, Can you let me know how you get on with the remap service. Cheers.

Paul

There are a lot of tuning/ remap companies spread across the uk if you dont want to remove the ecu yourself that will send out a mobile technician to remap your car for between £250 - £400

Heres an example of one http://www.angeltuning.co.uk/pdfs/carmake/Petrol7.pdf

or you could also put yourself down for a group remap day for £250 including rolling road run with bhp printout -***Special Offer Group Rolling Road and Remap Day @ Chipped UK*** - Audi-Sport.net

Try APR - Engineered Performance for Audi, Volkswagen, and Porsche Vehicles

They have locations all over Florida

I think the remap gets around 300hp out of an S4

Try GIAC as well if you are in the USA.
