Default vag codes

Hi again, So i found out my neighbor has a vag-com for his s4, i have an a4 and am trying to find codes for recoding the windows to go down with my remote key etc....and for any other cool upgrade i can do, anyone have the right numbers i'm looking for? I have the AHA engine model, if that helps at all. thanks.

Oh yea, my batteries died in my key so it flagged them as no good on my scan i did with the vag com, so what codes, or settings do i need or have to do to reset my key so i can use the remote to get in the damn car!

Replacing the battery in your keyfob should not stop the remote working, but repeatedly pressing the button when 'out of range' will.

Have you tried holding the remote button in for a few seconds to wind the windows up & down?

You can sync the remote to the car either using the '2 key method', or VAGCOM.

2 Key Method:
To sync a new Flip key to the car you need 2 keys, and it is a good idea to roll down the drivers window. (info lifted from AudiWorld)

1.Take the key you DO NOT want to program and put it in the ignition. Turn it one click forward (ignition on).

2. Close and lock the drivers door with the second key.

3. On the second key (the one in the drivers door) press the 'UNLOCK' button ONCE only. The lights will flash on the car, but the doors will remain locked

4. With the second key still in the drivers door, unlock then lock the door again.

5. Pull the key from the slot and test remote functions.

6. Open drivers door, remove key from ignition.

If you want to program a second key, do the above for the first key, but on step #3, press the 'UNLOCK' button twice with a 1sec pause. The lights will flash twice, then continue on with step #4.

(The earlier type non flip key remotes have a slightly different programming method, in which you hold down both buttons on the remote for 5 seconds.)

The VAGCOM method:
Enter control module 'Central Locking 35' ('Central Convenience 46' on later cars)
Go into adaption 10
Channel 21
then press the forward arrow and enter a number that you will store this remote under example; 00001
then hold down the remote button untill you see the diplay on the screen say reconised
Now press the confirm button to store the position

You can test if the car can 'see' the remote, even if it is not sync'ed to the car.
Open central locking controller, and go to measuring blocks.
Open channel 3, and in block 4 there are 4 zeros.
Using any remote, press and hold a button until one of the zeros changes to a one. The car will acknowledge any remote that is compatible with the car, regardless of it being programmed in.

Central Locking Options:

35-Central Locks: -- KWP-1281

VAG-COM Works fine (note: pre-'97 A4's may not have this module).
Recode locking options
[Select]
[35 - Cent. Locks]
[Recode - 07]
Enter the coding below

[Do It!]

Write down the existing coding for future reference.

A4 pre-1998 with Delta radio and anti-theft system
Standard Coding: 03468

A4 pre-1998 with Delta radio, anti-theft system and keyless entry
Standard Coding: 12172

A4 1998+ with Concert/Symphony radio and anti-theft system
Standard Coding: 03340

S4, A4 1998+ with Concert/Symphony radio, anti-theft system and keyless entry
Standard Coding: 16140

Add the following options to your coding number:

+64 Windows up, sunroof close, and windows down with remote.
-04 One touch unlock of all 4 doors and trunk
-1024 Remove horn honk when arming
+32 Auto lock/unlock of doors (Doors lock at 15 mph and unlock when key is removed)

So, if you want to have a 1999 A4 with Concert radio and anti-theft system and keyless entry, and you want to add window control with the remote along with auto-lock, then:
add 03340+64+32= 03436

The 'Basecode Decoder' prog also comes in handy.

If your pump has the remote interface you should be able to use the early 2 button European flip key remote. (not 3 button)

Many of the RF pumps have radio license blurb printed on the base.

97 was the changeover year, from the old type remote locking to the 'flip key' type system.

Your central locking pump is located behind the drivers side boot trim (behind the rear wheel arch), it is encased in a grey foam shroud.

You need to find the part number on the bottom of the pump.

Hey INI, i got my vag com cable, re-coded the windows and locks and such.... but i can't re-code my remote key! I go into central locking (35) and then go into apadtion (10), and when i select any channel besides 00 it says Error. channel 21 says the same........... so what do i do now, i went into adv. measuring blocks and my car doesn't recognize my remote buttons at all, i pushed them while monitoring and the values didn't change. Do you think there's something wrong with the cv pump or something related to it? thanks

If your remote worked previously, then it must be either a bad remote battery, or the central locking code number is wrong.

Try using the '2 key' method.

Clear all remotes, then add them again.

I replaced both sets of batteries, i tried the 2 key method, but i didn't try erasing them and then re-setting them, i'll try it and see if it works.... what do you mean by the central locking code being wrong? - THanks
