fading led display

I have a 2000 audi s4, the center led display which shows stereo info, temp., and trip comp. info starts to fade after about an hour of driving to the point of almost invisible. Always bright on start up. Is there a fix for this ? If so how difficult or expensive. Any info. would be great. Thanks Steve
