Default A4 S4 swap

I am still trying to find the most cost effective way of making my 2.8 quick, really quick. I know about the PES G2 and I don't want it if I have to spend more then 800 buck on it. It's just not worth it. I have found a S4 engine with all the wires turbos ecu going for 1000 right now. I am seriously considering going for the swap. What else will I have to change. What problems can I expect. I have heard everything from it is basically a bolt on job to a basically redo the whole car. I am only dealing with the price of additional parts as I will do all of the work with a close friend of mine. Does anyone know if the rear axel will be a problem, if I could use my transmission until I can get a 6-speed? Would I need a new radiator? Basically what will I need? Please only serious commits with actual anwsers. I DON"T want to just super charge my car or sell it for an S4. I would much rather have a really custom sleeper. Also if anyone has links to though who have made the swap in the past or other advice. Thanks

One you will need to be quattro to run the 6 speed box and you can not retro fit quattro to your car if you are not.

Moving on you will need to have the whole loom of the S4 if your car is not a face lift as the clocks wont work without it your going to need suspension hubs and swap out the drive shaft with yours to have any chance of linking up your box. Rad should be fine and the speed setup will drop in fine if as I said you are quattro but remember you will need the rear subframe and rear diff and suspension to make this all work.

If you don't want to do the whole loom and that will mean updating the inside to face lift then look at going Standalone ECU.

stand alone ECU where can i get this and why isn't would the 2000 S4 ecu which uses the same box ect work? i do have a quattro and i though almost all audi transmissions were interechangable i know the 6-speed on the 2.8 would be a bolt up job, why could i just bolt of the 5-speed onto the 2.7t or could i just get a new flywheel and clutch? i am most interested in what you are saying about the rear differential ect. please explain more about that, and about suspension? couldn't i just get some adjustable control arms and some new struts and coilovers? and wouldn't my only worry until i could get this done be going through tires and losing a little bit of power? you are by far the only source of good information i hae found who is taking this seriously. thank you and please let me know what else you know.
