Hello -
I am new to this forum and I am hoping someone can answer my question. I have searched prior threads and still not sure of an answer. I have a 1999 A4 Avant and I just had APR software installed. Last night I filled up with 93 Oct from a “no name” gas station. Their 93 was 20 cents cheaper than the Mobil gas station next to it. The car started fine this morning but I was only reading about 12lbs of max boost instead of the 14.5 lbs. If the “no name” gas station sold me a lower grade of gas could it cause a loss in boost or should I start looking for another solution perhaps the DV valve? TY JG |

Just your luck its probably the gas station that sold you the lower grade fuel, but about the dv I don't think its that. What you should do is open the hood and see if you can find any pressure leaks if you can't find any post again and let us know

If you upgraded your ECU for a bit more boost then it probably is your DV. Most people always change them if they upgrade the ECU!
Cheaper gas is not always good, was it at a steady 12psi or was it ranging between 12 and 14psi? Let me know if I can help you! Adam~ Quote:

It is steady at 12lbs. I bought some "104+" octane booster and poured it in but I have only driven a mile after I put it in and only 5 miles since I filled it.
I also did a visual inspection and listened for leaks and saw and heard nothing. The car has 49k on it and all the hoses and clamps under the hood look like new. Is there a way to determine if it is the DV valve myself? |

Thanks for the input
I am picking one up at the Audi dealer after work. I bought the "710N" DV valve. I read online that it is a upgraded valve that comes on 2002> 1.8ts. and I should replace my 1999 with the "710N" instead of the "710A" Any problems with using the "710N"? |

The Audi stock dv range(bosche) is prone to failure and if your now running a chipped ECU you would be best to upgrade to a Forge 007 or similar aftermarket one that is made for higher boost...

Well it turns out it wasn't the "DV". I did replace the "DV" with the "OE 710N" diverter valve but I found that p/n: 058133753B (Vacuum Pump; Suction Pump for Vacuum System; Y-Shaped Plastic Fitting) was separated in half at the factory seam in the part. I replaced it for $18.00 and the car has its entire boost back.
Thank you for all the comments and help JG |
