Hey guys, I just bought a 1999.5 A4 1.8T with the K04+ turbo upgrade and Giac Software. it also has a neuspeed exhaust and down pipe.
Please excuse my ignorance (my 1st post) but I find its missing that nice turbo sound, with the Phhhhhhhh sound. If I add a CAI and different Diverter valve will I gain that sound? thanks Nick |

For an intake I would suggest a Evo or a Carbonio, they are both expensive but both are effective. I don't have either one but I've heard they are both great.

IF you don't want to spend the money to buy the intakes you can go to any auto store and buy tubing to make your own for about $50. Thats what i'm gonna do next summer.

Hello Mate,
A DV and BOV or similar but do different things. You can only have one so to speak. The DV's are processing valves designed to direct flow from an inlet to one of two or more outlets. They can also be used for flow control and to converge two lines into one. Pretty much releases the back pressure off the turbo back into the intake. a BOV (Blow off Valve) Holds the back pressure tell you let off the throttle and releases it into the atmosphere instead of the intake. When it goes into the atmosphere that is when you get the nice whossssh sound. Stock Audi's normally run a DV, if you are running an aftermarket turbo running a higher boost its recommended to change the DV to a stronger DV to hold the boost or a BOV to prevent to much pressure then blowing your turbo. Hope this helps your thoughts! Cheers, Adam~ Quote:

im pretty sure if you had a bov it would mess up the rpms when getting off gas. i dissconnected my dv's to see what they would sound like, and when it came off the gas the rpms dipped below 500 and it shook a little bit. i beleive its because the ecu is mapped to receive that extra air from the diverter valve. if you wanted to get a blow off you probably would need a custom remap.
