17916/P1508 error code

Hi everyone,

Help on this would be greatly appreciated. I know what the error code is (as supplied by vag-com):

Control Module Part Number: 8D0 907 558 B
Component and/or Version: 1,8L R4/5V MOTR HS D03
Software Coding: 04001
Work Shop Code: WSC 06335
1 Fault Found:
17916 - Idle Control Sys: Upper Regulation Limit Reached
P1508 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

My question is, what does this mean exactly? How can this be cured?


I don't know if the model of car is relevant, but its an audi A4 1.8 SE (20V).

Remove and clean throttle body,refit and readapt.Check all vac pipes for leaks and check breather pipes the same also check for blockages in the intake manifold. Try basic setting 98 for throttle body

Hi.
A8 tech, thanks for your advice. I figured that the most likely place for a bockage in the intake system would be the air filter, so I changed that as a first try.
Tha air filter did seem dirty, and only when i put the new one in did i notice the difference.
It seems there is no more erratic acceleration (slight ded-spots), now pulls cleanly from ide to red-line.
I will clear the code, and see if it returns, or whether this simple fix did the trick!
