6-speed upgrade?

I recently purchased a 01 A4 1.8 quattro with a 5-speed manual tranny.

Is it possible to upgrade to the 02-05 1.8 6-speed tranny? If so, any complications or is it a direct fit?

Is your car a B6 or B5 A4?

There is a cross over point and some B5's fall under 2001 and in the US they went on to 01.5 so thats why I asked the question.

ah, ok... mine is a B5 chassis, 01. In the US, the 02 S4 is actually still a B5 chassis as well, dont know how other countries were...

The A4 didnt change to B6 untill 02 here...

Why is that about an S4 tranny?? the S4 is a V6... I have a 1.8T... different tranny.......

I want to know if the 02-05 1.8T 6-speed tranny will work in my car... as far as I know its the same motor, so i'm guessing it would be a direct swap...

No the B6 6 speed will not fit but the B5 S4 will.
