Display is blank

Hi, the digital display on my 1997 Audi A4 went blank it only displays the first message when in Park, however as soon as I start to drive it goes blank and doesn't show the OK/Temperature/km left and Driving gear. If I press it when the engine is on and not moving it displays all the warnings as it should and then goes blank again. Any ideas? Tnx in advance!
