How did he know that...
I went to Advance Auto Parts last weekend after my battery began acting weak. The attendant checked it and the alternator was charging OK, but the battery could not hold much charge. The battery was 6 years old, so we changed it. The attendant then told me that the car would run funny for several days until the computer "re-compensated" (??). I though that sounded like a bunch of bunk, but on the way home, it died at every intersection. I thought maybe he knew something I didn't... or have never heard of. It's now been 10 days and it still dies immediately at every stop sign. I've serarched the internet and this forum, maybe I not using the correct search terms. Is there a way to "reset" the computer or make it wake up? Thanks in advance for any guidance. Hankster 1998 Audi A4 Quattro ![]() |

Yep the cars ECU is returned to basics with only the basic setting so now the ECU need to learn all the parameters of the engine and set it back up but normally a couple of hours drive will settle it down and after a week bed back in fully.
If you ever get your car remapped they will tell you it will take about a week for the mapping to bed in and get used to the car.
