Default Help with OBD Code

Hi guys,

I'm trying to sort out my a/c which hasn't really worked for best part of a year. About 10 months ago an Audi mechanic topped up the gas, but told me I needed a new blower fan. I couldn't afford it at the time so left it.

I just bought one off Ebay and fitted it. Now have air rushing through all the vents. Great news.

The air doesn't get cold though.

Using the climate control OBD codes I have the following fault-

22.1 (F118) A/C refrigerant high pressure switch, static open, *
*compressor remains off until switch closes.

Would really appreciate it if someone can guide me on how to proceed from here. Many thanks.

Replace trinary switch on the condensor, unless you do have high pressure test with pressure gauges, but the switch is common and will automatically turn of a/c compressor

also very possible that the system is overcharged. This will open the high pressure switch which cuts the compressor to protect it from damage.

Thank you both for the replies.

I've not heard it called the trinary switch before- is that the name of the part I should look for, or is it likely to be called something else?

And if the system is overcharged, then do I need a new switch, or is there an easy way to rectify the situation?

Thanks again.
