Default 98 A4 2.8 Quattro

Hi,

I'm new to here and A4s!

I'm looking to get a late 90s 2.8 Quattro Avant. I drove a saloon today to see what they're like, it was nice, tight, handled much better than expectedl and had plenty of grip. The engine was good and pulled well.

Before I go ahead and put some cash down, what things should I be looking for when buying/testing? I really want an avant, does anyone know if this affects the handling at all? I thought the handling was great fun and I would be disappointed if the avant wasn't just as good and would probably go for the saloon.

Any help is appreciated, I really and impressed with these cars!

handeling won't be as great since the avant is heavier. but a set of springs/shocks,or coilovers will change that significantly!!! do you plan on modding the car. if so, the (4cy)1.8t a4's have much much more performance upgrades than the (v6)2.8l a4. if your looking for a strong car with great reliability, then the 2.8li s the car for you.

yeah, if you don't plan on modding your car at all then get the 2.8. the 1.8T has more potential but if you're just going to keep it stock and have it as a daily driver then get the 2.8

Hi

Thanks for the responses, I've got no plans to mod the car I enjoyed the power in the 2.8 and just want a good quick fun reliable motor.

Is there anything I should be looking out for when buying??

buy it from someone you trust. if the car has high mileage, knowing the person who owned it before is really helpful. if you buy it from some kid and you don't know him, good luck. my A4 has high miles on it but i got it from a 50 year old guy that is a family friend and i've known forever. good luck with the search
