Default 3 beeps when engine or key start

I seem to ge these 3 beeps in my 1998 Audi A4 whenever the key is turned to the On position, or if I start the car. There are no warning lights in the dash, no other lights (ABS, Check Engine, etc). All looks good, just hear the same 3 loud beeps one time only upon start. I never hear them after that. Can anyone suggest a possible reason?

Would engine oil being low cause this? It is below the minimum in the dip stick. Scheduled an oil change for next week, but would like to know if anyone has a clue.

Well if I were looking for instructions on how to add oil to my car, your reply would certainly help. However, I am looking for a possible reason why I get 3 beeps with no warning lights on the instrument panel. I offered Oil Level as a possibility for others to comment on. Thanks anyway. Would brake pad level cause the beeps anyone? They are low and being changed today.

I am also having a little trouble starting the car, but this is rare. Once it stalled on me going from Park to Reverse. But I liken this to a timing problem in the engine. The car at idle will "burp" every few seconds. I probably shifted it during this "skip" when the idle was coming down during the shift change.

The 3 beeps still elude me.

Wont be brake pads. The 1998 model did not come out with sensors.

Well, my brake pads did come with a thick long wire with a plug at the end of each one. Seems something is electronic with the pads. But I replaced the worn pads, and the 3 beeps continue. I found a way to delay the 3 beeps. When I start the car, if I immediately push the system check button, it goes through its cycle of checks on the panel and finishes with an OK. Immediately after it finishes it 3 beeps as always with no visible warning.

Hi guys, I've got a quick quiz here about your perceptions of luxury car brands and a few other things. It's only 20 questions, shouldn't take more than ten minutes.

Its some University research, so I'd be really interested to hear your views. Just click the link below.

Cheers

Niki
