Grinding second gear - any thoughts?

I have a '98 A4 2.8Q with a 5 speed. during acceleration from 1st to 2nd when i let the clutch out in 2nd i get a grinding feeling on the shift knob. anyone know what it could be or what's causing it?

ive got a similar issue in my 99 1.8t. with the clutch in from 1 to 2 i get the same grinding feeling. anybody have any thoughts?

I had a similar problem on my last car I think there might be a faulty syncro in those trannies.

just make sure that you shift gently, give it almost a pause in between 1st, and 2nd. It just kinda Cranky

yea i could never downshift well into 2nd and first you had to kinda take those easy

change the oil from synthetic to hypoid to reduce the synchro from aqua planing
