Default Window controls failed.

Hi All,

I have a 1998 A4 1.8T

Recently the cabin lights started turning on and off while I was driving. The central locking also started locking / unlocking while I was driving.

The above behaviour then stopped but now the window controls no longer work.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Regards

You also may have some water that has run under your switches and is messing with the connections

The window switches are "wired" through the central locking unit.

The central locking unit sits in a foam "cup". This foan cup somehow filled up with water. The water corroded the window control wires off the central locking unit PCB.

I cleaned up the PCB, soldered on links across the corroded wires and all is well again.

This explains the interior light and door lock malfunction that preceded the window control failure. It was "water under the switches" :-)
