suspect water pump failure

hi all, new to this so bear with me !!!! bought an audi a4 avant 2.0 se a year ago. in that time the car had a couple of minor problems that were covered under the free years warranty. last week i was driving into town and the coolant warning light came on, checked level all ok, then i noticed temp gauge sitting at 130 degrees. stopped car right away and phoned aa. audi warranty ran out 5 days previous. aa said water pump not working right. took to garage said might as well do timing belt also. car done 50k.. am i unlucky or is this just one of those things that happens.................

well its recommed to get the timing belt at 50k miles anyways but i say ur unlucky though

Its also recommended to do the water pump at the same time as the timing belt, so in your case the pump went first - be glad
