I went to add coolant to my engine today and noticed that there was a lot of oil in the mix. Flushed it out and put in new coolant but I have a feeling this is exactly why I'm blowing blueish white smoke out of the exhaust. Could this be because my head gasket is blown and is this a HUGE job? How many hours about? And should I order the piece off of e-bay for $150?

Thanks!

Yea sounds like it. In the Uk it costs about £500 for the whole job so just over $900. I think its about a 5 hour job. You can get your head tested with a dye.

Fingers crossed for you its just the gasket and the head hasnt cracked or warped so would need to get it pressure tested when it comes off.
Is the engine firing or running rough(loss of compression)?
As Randomjim says its a labour intensive job.

It feels a bit sluggish at times but maybe it's because I demand too much from the 1.8T lol... ok well I hope it's just the 5 hour job you spoke of! Oil in coolant is a definite sign of this?

Thanks

yeah bad sign.Dont drive too much longer with it like this or you could be into big money if you damage the cylinder head.
