Hello Everyone:

I'm new to your site with my recently purchased 2001 A4 Avant Quattro 2.8. I have quickly ID'd an annoying misfire. It only happens below 2000 rpm with a wider throttle - under load, so to say. Result is mostly perceived as driveline lash. Now, I do have a clue and, to make a long story short, an OBD II diagnostic revealed a code for 'air pump'. Problem is that I don't know how much stock to put in this because at the same time, I had just put in a new battery - and gotten the multi - malfunction light - and am unsure whether the increased voltage shocked a 'gremlin'.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks much.

Update: I found another forum site and was advised that I am likely experiencing a pinhole in a line between the air pump and someplace else - most likely the intake manifold. I will have this checked next time it is in the shop.

Well, turns-out to have been the air pump. At $1,550, I've figured-out a new way to spell AUDI: OWWW!DI
