Hey guys, I posted this in the Australian section of the forum, and had no replies.
I was just wondering if anyone here tried Shells new Optimax Extreme fuel in their Audi? I found a site with some handy information about the fuel www.100octane.com.au Looks like it could have loads of potential in both performance and efficiency. Reviews? |

Shell's Optimax Extreme has 5% ethanol, that's how they get the additional 2 RON. I thought I read somewhere that ethanol is not recommended in the 1.8T engine. Might pay to check with Audi before you use the stuff long term.
I'm using Optimax exclusively - 98RON. Not sure it's worth the risk of buggering up an engine given it has ethanol in it, plus it's an additional 3-4cents /litre. |

Just checked on the 100octane site. They have info on what cars can run ethanol fuel. Interesting. Its a bit of a shame certain Audi's cant run E10.
I think that’s pretty poor since ethanol is the only decent renewable fuel we have at the moment for cars. |
