I am buying a friend's 2000 A4 wagon and the clutch is on its last legs with 58,000 on the clock.

I know that clutch replacement is going to be upwards of $1200 for a standard replacement. I'm wondering if there is a better aftermarket clutch for this car. I am planning on chipping the car and then eventually doing a few more mods to it to squeeze out some more juice. I like to drive somewhat aggressively and want to improve the clutch since it's going to be replaced anyway.

Any suggestions?

Also, I live in Los Angeles and looking for a good shop/mechanic that i could go to either just for the clutch or on a regular basis. Any info on general or performance garages in my area would be much appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time. =)
