Question

Hi Everyone,

I own a 1998 ® A4 2.4 v6 which has done 104k miles. I am experiencing the following problems:

There seems to be some sort of oil leak at the front of the engine, right under the bumper. I don't know what this is or can be?? (I recently changed the oil and oil filter but after checking, this is not the source of the leak)

Also as soon as I turn my car on from a cold start the temperature gauge goes straight up to 90 degrees and when I go on the motorway for 10+ miles it raises to 100 degrees. Is this normal? I am also having to fill the coolant up every morning has it seems to be leaking somewhere but there are no patches on my drive where the car has been parked. (Just the patch from the oil leak)

Any help will be appreciated.

Carl

i'd bet you've got a cracked oil pan.... and the overheating is caused by a lack of oil in the sump. teh coolant disapearing ... its not uncommon for it to evaporate into the system when your car is running hotter than normal.
