A4 Avant Hazard Triangle - Please Help

Hi, Just got a new A4 Avant 2001. Not sure why hazard warning triangle is blinking on and off for a while when alarm initially set. Seems to go out eventually after a good couple of minutes.....what does this mean please...

could be a bad relay.... that light is suposed to flash one or two times when you arm or disarm the alarm but thats all.

do the turnsignals flash for this extended period as well?

No the hazards lights don't flash, its just the warning triangle that flashes, it even flahes if you don't alarm the car, just shut the door.

The light is on when you open the door, when you close the door, it stays on for about 20 secs, then goes out, and then starts flashing slowly, one sec on one sec off...

check either the relay or the connection to the back of the switch
