Hello Forum,

This is my first post.
I've been saving up for the longest time to buy my first car. Most likely I will get an A4 (2000-2001) . What are the main differences between the 1.8 Quattro and the 2.8 Quattro?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Help me find the car of my dreams!!

1.8t for tuneability .. 2.8 for stock power.

a stock 2.8 will take a 1.8t. a modded 1.8t will take a 2.8. get either in manual. 00-01 tiptronic leaves alot to be desired.

Welcome to the group.
One noticable difference between the 1.8 and the 2.8 is engine noise on the highway. If you do alot of long, highway trips, I'd go with the 2.8.

I think I've narrowed it down to a couple.
I've chosen 2.8 over the 1.8 (For Stock power and highway driving)
Manual, 6 cyl

Option 1:
Year: 1998 Audi A4 2.8 QUATTRO
PRICE: $13,990.00
Mileage: 99601 km
Doors: 4
Transmission: Manual
Drive Train: AWD
Engine Size: 2.8 L
Cylinders: 6

Option 2:
Year: 2001
Make: AUDI
Model: A4
Model Detail: 2.8 QUATTRO
Price: $19,300.00
Mileage: 91000 km
Transmission: Manual

I realize option one is older, but I must consider it given the low clicks.
Should year really matter in this case?

the 98 will have a few "older" interior features.. like climate control and the stereo.. thats about it

wow both cars are too expensive
come to michigan you will find better deals,

hello
In 1999 there was a face lift
99 onwards have a smarter looking headlights
Projector lights with built in indicators....
much better looking

Go for the newer one.....

Diana,

I'm located up in Toronto Canada, so I can't really do much about the price.

Selection is also pretty limited as far as the features and specs that I had in mind.

David,

I agree with you. The headlights and indicators are the clincher in this deal.

Time to finalize this thing.
