I have a June 2001 A4 1.9TDI SE. During the past week I have noticed that the car has lost power in first and second gear. The turbo then suddenly kicks in at about 2500 revs. Can anyone tell what has caused this turbo 'lag'?
thanks |

Could be your air mass meter. I guess if you removed the wire that connects to it (check your manual first - I no mechanic) and then the symptoms stay the same (i.e. get no worse) then you could be pretty sure it isn't working.
If not air mass meter I should get the dealership to put a computer on it as there are lots of less common things (e..g exhaust gas recirc etc) that it could be. Quote:

No they don't!I had a 2002 A4 1.8T quattro and it was a rocket! You colud accelerate in any gear at any speed and it would just pull on!I now have a 2005 A4 1.8T quattro and it is even quicker!I would say your turbo isnt workin anymore or else your turbo pipe is cracked! That happened my 2002 one!The pipe cracked and it was just blowing the air out from the exhausts!
