ok i just bought a 2000 s4. i was under the impression it had some were on it, but then again so did my m3. so i took the chance.
i need help!
i understand this is a common problem, misfires all up and down, the coil, packs, and everything has been check. i am currently trouble shooting the cam timing and timing belt. my ecu has been a little spliced into but this is not the issue. if this is common whats the common fix?
feel free to email at cljm3@yahoo.com

since you've checked the coils.. ill assume you've also replaced the plugs...

i might sugest moving the coil from a good cylinder to the misfiring one, and see if the problem moves to the new cylinder. (since you said you check the coils, not sure if this would do anything or not.. )

First, check the the spark plug WIRES... they're often overlooked...

second, check the ignition control module/ignition amblifier (aka power stage).. this sometimes causes misfires

third, check the O2 sensor

did you run a VAGCOM on your car? the codes often tell you which part of the engine is going bad...
