Greatings Everyone,
I am a previously owned Audi Owner. My husband + I love the way the car drives and handles, BUT are EXTREMELY unhappy about the service costs that we have encountered. The latest: A couple of weeks ago the ABS +brake warning light came on. We took the car to the dealer we bought the car from and they said "every thing COMPUTER CHK.}checked out OK. They (the dealer) said the computer chk. said everything was OK. The warning light still comes on; and in a test event the ABS sys. does NOT work. The dealer said we needed a new battery awt the cost of $160. With no guarantee that the $160. would fix the prob. We took the car to another service and were told it was doubtful that a new battery would cure the problem. |

that sounds familiar to a problem a friend of mine had and his problem ended up being a fault with his abs computer control system and it is an expensive job to change
this may be a reason the dealer is fobbing you off as does not want to pay out for the job under warranty. his is right with the problem possibly not showing on a diagnostic as this can be intermittant on the ecu side of reading a fault. my suggestion is take the dealer out in the car and show him the car locking up after abs failure and scare him into sorting it. as brakes are not a thing you want to fail on you in an audi. ![]() |

A3 Kid is right, take the vehicle to the dealer and show them the problem. ABS functioning is a BIG deal, if it doesn't work right, they may have a BIG liability. They want it to work right. Try another dealer. I thought that the ECU stored intermittent problems, but it may not since it is not the Engine check light.
Hope you get it working OK. ![]() |
