And it really is stupid.
I am thinking of buying a 1994-7 A4 to play with and do up, its a choice between that or an e36 bmw and I can guess what you guys think of them so.. The stupid question is... Is the audi a4 rear wheel drive? ![]() I know there are 4 wheel drive versions but having been a ford and bmw person all my life I dont know anything about audi's. I just saw how cheap the older ones are over here (sunny england) and I was surprised at what I could get for my money. If it is rwd then I dont think theres any question as to which I choose. However if its fwd, as a lot of cars that shouldn't be are these days, then it will be no fun to drive so the beemer will take it. Thanks in advance, J ps, nice lookin forums ![]() |

The VW/Audi 1.8t is more tuneable than the E36. Waste your money on an Audi? haha...

No I dont know about audi's, like I said I was finding out a few basics. My knowledge is of bmw's and fords, I've never given a second glance to an audi. And having now had my suspicions confirmed that they are just fat cat cruisers driven by arrogant pricks (Thanks Vesco, proved in a single sentence) I think I'll stick to what I know. |

Check out this video. This is HPA's twin turbo R32 with around 500hp at the wheels. See how the driver takes it up to mid RPMs and drops it in? There is a sweet little chirp then take off. no drama of spinning wheels. Remember, that car is putting out ~500hp. Try lanuching a 500hp front (or rwd for that matter) car with that kind of precision. Movie: HPA's TwinTurbo R32 |

Mr Bhb I should amend my previous statement to '....MOSTLY driven by...'.
Very nice looking Golf. I've always had a soft spot for them, used to drive a mk1 gti. Sure its a very precise start, It just seems that all that grip is too much for the engine to put down quick enough to compete with an all out, floor it, hang on and pray start in a rwd monster. I've always kind of wondered how awd cars would fare on the track. In theory they should be able to blow rwd cars into the dust just out of pure traction. I would put money down that given time awd will start to make a big impact on the drag strip, once the technology develops a bit more and they become cheaper. The latter being the main reason I cant get one bmw e36 325i - £1600 95 Audi A4 1.8 - £1500 95 S4 - £6-7000 Also you have to remember that I'm in the uk and the rwyb scene over here is fairly small, and mostly populated by old yank tanks. I've not seen a single awd car on track so far. There's a twin vr6 engined 4wd mk2 golf around but he doesnt really use it, its more of a showpiece. (0-60 = 3.4 seconds) I'm one of a few who have been doing it in more modern cars. So far I've killed an old ford granada with a small block and gone through two bmw's (e30's, easy and cheap to replace/fix) Theres a few fwd ricers appearing these days but they run in their own league. Thank god. |

And in conclusion, all those who use sarcasm, can be classified as not being arrogant, but rather an ASS. Nevertheless, there are no stupid questions. People join this forum for advice and suggestions, not what has happened in this disscussion. So if you can't answer a question or give advise, go on cruising, that's what you do best.
