I've had a 1998 A4 Avant for 5+ years and have generally been pleased. I'm coming up on my 90,000 mile check up.
My dealership is recommending that I spend an extra $800 to replace the water pump when they replace the belt - they said that changing the belt increases the possiblity that the pump will fail. Any thoughts / guidance? |

I don't know if it increases the chance it will fail, but when they have the car apart, it is a good idea so you won't have to pay for the labor again. Check out ESC Tuning to see what it should cost for parts. The labor, shouldn't be much more.
