Im trying to add a dvd player to my 07 Q7 but I cant seem to find a place to mount the front indash DVD system. Anyone if I remove the factory radio/cd changer would I be able to connect any aftermarket stereo/DVD system? and will the MMI still work? Anyone know of any good place to mount a 1 to 2 DIN dvd player in the front? .... glove box has the height but its not deep enough.
You could remove the CD chnager from the dash, but you must join the fiber loop behind it when you disconnect from the CD changer. You would not easily be able to connect any aftermarket system to the car as the MMI is quite highly integrated into the car. If you want in car DVD I would suggest you fit a changer in the boot feeding into the TV tuner AUX inputs if you have a TV tuner or possibly by one of the cheaper AV input solutions.
Hi!
My question is if cd/dvd changer is 1 din size? I ask local audio/video installation shop and they said its not! And if it is 1 din size, maybe a can put the aftermarket DVD player and connect it to the auxiliary input?
Thanks a lot....
Technically it is 1 din size ... but it has a 1 1/2 inch flap on each side which makes it wider. I had to install some ABS to fill the sides otherwise it looks great
This guy said they maid custom panel to fill up the space. But any way thank you very much!
So I can put some 1 din motorized DVD and ask them to connect it. And made panel match the wood trim!
There is a 1 DIN size pop up mount you can fit under the armrest. This is where the Audi AMI is located when fitted, but no reason why you can't fit a DVD player in the slot.
Under your armrest is a storage bin, this has to come out to fit the AMI/CD holder mechanism.
Ok! I now under armrest I got the iPod input interface. I’m looking to install second display by installing motorized DVD player into the dash on Audi q7. Today I was at (the company what do installation) they give me are quotes around 1500$.Were the DVD unit – radio was 900$(Alpine). But I’m thinking to install it myself. So if anyone can help me with original cd/dvd pin out and how to made custom panel into the dash!
Please help me/.
It’s going to be big project……..
Thanks…
