Default Brake Pads

My Q7 is in with the local dealership as it has some problems...surprise surpise! Whilst doing a 'health check' they have informed me that my front and rear brake pads are 90% worn now....already i said as its only done 11000miles!? The cost for changing the pads only is £560 inc the dealer whispered into my ears.
What i want to know is that do the pads need replacing on these Q7' so often or is there a problem with my car? Its still under warranty (2008 model)
HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM? If so i would love to hear from you.

Are you riding your Q hard? Then it is possible.... I have now more than 25000km, and Pads are still OK.
Nevertheless, 'worn pads' are a cash cow for many dealers, as most owners do not check them themself, and the dealer can make business with such an security item...even if it is not that worn. Just something to think about.....

jaan, any updates? Sounds like you took your Q to a stealership. Have never heard of vehicle going thru pads at 11k.

If any of you guys are in the UK then get your pads changed at Kwik-Fit, they offer a life time guarantee on them so when you wear them out they change them FOR FREE !!!!!

I have had loads of pads changed now by them and they moan alot about it but do it for FREE.

The funny thing is there are no 3rd party pads ( or at least they can't get any ) so have to buy them from the dealers so they are genuine OEM parts. Last time I got some changed they showed me the invoice they get from Audi.

WOWOW

I don't know why more people don't know about this scheme they run

Si

I dropped the stock pads like a bad habit, and went with Hawk LTS pads. Drastically improved the braking performance. No brake dust driving me nuts on a daily basis.

YES! that is what i wanted to hear CaddyKing!! This is the best braking vehicle I have ever owned so I have no issues with braking performance but the brake dust is HORRENDOUS! If I can replace with HAWK - minimize the dust & improve an already incredible braking performance - AND save about a $1000 over dealer - I am in.
Just thinking about the bogus stories of brake pad wear due to a Heavy Vehicle is beyond BS! Relatives have a Cheby Tahoe and brakes went 110k and they tow a boat.... AUDI service brake bulletin - pls sell snake oil during brake jobs.... What a crock of Dung.

Off topic--thanks for the info CaddyKing!!

No worries. I also upgraded the stock rotors to a full set of ATE Slotted Rotors.
