I had a digital tv module retrofitted at the weekend (posted my report on another thread), however, what was interesting was CraigB ran VAG com to reset all of the fault codes that appeared after he had disconnected various parts (ie. the nav system to enable access to the rack to store the tv module) and what fault code was still there? My rear passenger door handle
I guess another visit to the dealer is in order to fix the passenger door handle now! Why can't dealers repair or at least report all the fault codes back to me, so we can address these issues whilst the car is in their care? I do not believe this fault has just appeared. It was more than likely there when they were fixing the drivers door handle. It is as temperamental as the drivers handle was, when trying to lock and unlock, I just never really use it, so I hadn't noticed it. I have to get it fixed under warranty as this problem could get worse. I welcome any feedback from dealers or people in the know, on this issue. It may well be that I am using a 'bad' dealer and I need to look at switching. |

My advanced key doesn't like opening up for me unless i'm RIGHT next to the door. It also doesn't like me to use the handle button to lock up. Sometimes it just takes opening the door back up and shutting it to get what I want. I'm ready to give the service department a call, any suggestions on what to point to?

Hi HardQ7,
You have the exact same problem I experienced. It sounds like you will need a new ignition switch and new door handle(s) to replace the faulty one(s). It is a known fault on the Q7 and Audi have posted a 'cause and solution' on their internal database. If you check earlier in this post, I have transcribed it word for word. Please note: The remote access & door handles are two seperate issues Don't let them fob you off if your chassis number or VIN isn't shown on their list of affected cars. According to the list, I shouldn't have needed an ignition switch, but I did. Insist on them running the diagnostic software and report to you how many handles are faulty. This was the cause of my last rant. They had it for two days, as the handles need painting, whilst they 'fixed' the problem. I had only reported the drivers door handle as being faulty. However, I have since ran VAGCOM and it is reporting the same fault on the offside rear door. I am sure this problem hasn't just occurred and it would have been nice to have all of the doors fixed in one visit. Either they didn't run a diagnostic test, which I find hard to believe, or they didn't/couldn't order an additional handle in. This WILL sort your problem.
