Help with AV input

Hallo everybody,

I am Thanos from Athens, Greece - and a proud owner of a Blue Q7 S- line 4.2 Gasoline which I received last week, with all options and gadgets besides "rear air condition control".

I left that space empty intentionally cause I though I could fit there a DVD for my kids. Q7 owners will now what I mean.

I laso noticed that my MMI can take 2 AUX AV inputs.

Anyone familiar with that ? Does this mean that I can connect an external AV source without using something like GATEWAY 500 ?

Would really appreciate your comments and advise,

First of all, why does everyone think the Gateway 500 can be used for a video input? Trust me I have installed about 27 of these and they do not provide a video input. They provide a video output from the Ipod to drive a rear screen and that is all.

But you can use the AV inputs on your TV tuner, AV1 & 2. You will need to buy an adaptor cable, around 30 euros from Kufatec or ebay and insert this into the 20 pin connector on your TV tuner.

The TV tuner is located on the right hand side of the boot behind the trim panel.

Might not be what you're looking for, but I bought a Kufatec cable for my A8, and they emailed me the pins to connect it to:

Anschlussbelegung Video- In Adapter A6 4F , A8 4E, Q7

Den TV Tuner aus dem Infotainment- Rack (Kofferraum links oder rechts beim Q7)
herausziehen, den roten oder blauen 20poligen Stecker abziehen und den schwarzen Einsatz rausdrücken (hinten Verriegelungsnase wegdrücken).
Dort ist die Steckerbelegung dann wie folgt:
Pin 9 – Schirmung Audio links/rechts
Pin 10 – Audiosignal weiß, links
Pin 11 – Audiosignal rot, rechts
Pin 12 – Videosignal gelb
Pin 13 - Video/ Schirm
Pin 15 – Schirmung Audio links/rechts 2
Pin 16 – Audiosignal weiß, links 2
Pin 17 – Audiosignal rot, rechts 2
Pin 18 – Videosingal 2
Pin 19 – Video/ Schirm

Videoausgang (nur Hybridtuner):
Pin 4 – Video Schirm
Pin 5 – Videosignal
Pin 6 – Audio Schirm
Pin 7 – Audio links

Connection allocation video in adapter A6 4F, A8 4E, Q7
The TV Tuner from the Infotainment rack (trunk on the left of or right with the Q7) pull out, which plugs take red or blue 20 poligen off and which black employment rausdrücken (in the back force bolting device nose away).

There is the Steckerbelegung then as follows:
Pin 9 - Shielding audio left/right
Pin 10 - Audio signal knows, left
Pin 11 - Audio signal red, right
Pin 12 - Video signal yellow
Pin 13 - Video screen
Pin 15 - Shielding audio left/on the right of 2
Pin 16 - Audio signal knows, on the left of 2
Pin 17 - Audio signal red, on the right of 2
Pin 18 - Videosingal 2
Pin 19 - Video screen

Video exit (only Hybridtuner):
Pin 4 - Video screen
Pin 5 - Video signal
Pin 6 - Audio screen
Pin 7 - Audio left
Pin 8 - Audio right

Actually, from my limited German, here's my take on the Kufatec cab;e pins:

Connection video in adapter A6 4F, A8 4E, Q7
The TV Tuner from the Infotainment rack (in the trunk on the left, of or right with the Q7) - don't understand the next bit of instruction but will figure it out -
There is the Steckerbelegung then as follows:

Pin 9 - Shielding audio left/right (black)
Pin 10 - Audio signal left (white)
Pin 11 - Audio signal right (red)

Pin 12 - Video signal yellow (red)
Pin 13 - Video screen (black)

Now all I need to do is locate the connector block without dismantling the car
