Welcome ( almost ) to the Q7 Owners enclosure.
Nice choice of spec. Personally I think the 21" rims are essential but each to there own. Can't comment on the Re-Map as I haven't had it done ( yet ) but am more than happy with the current power....wouldn't grumble at better mpg but I guess thats more down to my driving style LOL I'm sure Richard will be along shortly to fill you in on his re-mapping experience As for the Infotainment....I went for the roof mounted screen and I'm very very pleased with it Si Last edited by BigladUK : 03-29-2007 at 06:03 AM. |

Off the top of my head my order was placed around the third week of January. After what seems an eternity the car finally arrived on Wednesday afternoon. We're picking it up on Saturday and really looking forward to it. Apart from the extras I've listed I'm going to have it perma-guarded and get the headrest mounted entertainment installed (which is kind of ironic as I run a custom installation company designing and installing very high end home cinema systems for a living). Also planning to have it serial port upgraded but need to do some miles and research first. So far Superchips are probably favourite. Shame AMD went as they were a good company. I was also thinking of tracker but having found out my insurance company are only offering a £25 reduction if I spend several hundred pounds installing this I've gone off the idea. I can't see why I should pay £300-£400 plus to save them paying me out in the event of something nasty happening. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for a 50% reduction in insurance costs but £100 quid-ish towards the cost of a tracker would have been nice. Incidentally, ordered some McGard locking wheel nuts today to protect the 21" wheels. Last edited by Senna : 03-29-2007 at 06:27 PM. |

I'm going to have a tracker fitted when I get round too it, not for the insurance saving but for the piece of mind that I'll get it back. The reason for this is no insurance company will insurance the extras you have fitted the to the car so the only insure the base model......Now this means if your car is stolen the day after you take delivery of it they will at best pay you out about £42k where you will have actually paid around £50K.....complete madness I know and the extras we have fitted to our cars aren't really extras but factory upgrades.....Just food for though. I was of the opinion that if it got stolen I won't want it back but now, I'd rather they got it back and repaired it. Be interesting to here what tracking options people favour ( if any ) Si |

Thanks for the welcome guys, i got a call from the dealer yesterday the car is built and is awaiting shipping, and should be available in the next 2 weeks.
I hadnt thought about new locking wheel nuts i will get some ordered today do you recommend those you mentioned. My current insurance compnay (Direct Line) wont insure the car against theft without traker fitted, so i guess i have no alternative. On that subject has anyone shopped around for the best deals on Q7's, i have about 10years no claims and my premium is aroung £650pa I am swaying towards roof mounted screens as you can get these in bigger sizes prob 10" ones x 2, but at present im still undecided. Hi Simon,
I had traker fitted in my ML270 a few years ago and it worked faultlessly once when it was stolen with the keys it was found and the thieves caught within 20 minutes the car was returned unmarked, I had a Cobra Traking unit fitted to the Range Rover that never got tested, thankfully, but they did phone me once to ask was my ok, as they had had a signal from it, I think in the Q7 i will go for Traker they seem to be the industry leader. Regards to all From: Steve Livey [mailto:steve@phoenixins.co.uk] Sent: 06 November 2006 15:00 To: richard.hoare@fosterdenovo.com Subject: RE: Personal Quote Hi Richard The best quote i can get:- £576.91which includes Protected NCB, Business Use and Legal Expenses Cover. Or £531.00 without Business use. Please note that the accidental damage excess is £350.00. The protected ncb costs approx £30. The Good News is that this Company does not need you to fit a tracker. However, if you decide that you want to fit one anyway, please let me know so I can point you in the right direction of decent/recognized trackers. Best wishes steve |

McGards locking wheel nuts are amongts the best in the world and give would-be wheel thieves a much, much harder time than Audi's standard locking nuts. Well worth the £30 or so quid IMO Quote:
How about getting a few Q7 owners together for a better price? Do you reckon the tracker guys would be open to a multi buy deal? Last edited by Senna : 03-30-2007 at 02:15 PM. |
